Mrs. Yao bags award

Mother Goose bags award

Josephine Choa-Yao, owner of the long-standing first Filipino-Chinese nursery school in Metro Manila, Mother Goose Nursery, has recently received the award of Professional Achievement in Family Life and Child Development from the University of the Philippines.

Yao, better known as Teacher Yao, to her students, was honored in an alumni homecoming celebration last November 22, 2014  at the Alonso Hall, College of Home Economics, University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City.

Teacher Yao was recognized for her invaluable contribution to the field of early childhood education. Her dedication to nurturing young minds, since she first started her school in 1974, has been ongoing for four decades now.

The school, Mother Goose Nursery, has also won the “Best Nursery School” National Product Quality Excellence Award in 2006.

Today, the school continues to be the home of sharp young students driven to excel. Aside from the Toddler, Pre-Nursery, Junior Kinder, and Senior Kinder classes, the school also offers Sakamoto Math and trains students to compete in various Worldwide Math Competitions abroad.

Teacher Yao is certainly “A Teacher to The last,” as she now passes on her legacy to her daughter, Kim Lorrie Yao (FLCD, Magna Cum Laude Batch ‘94 with MA in Education (Major in Guidance) Batch 2004, UPd) and granddaughter, Krystelle  Meagan Yao who is currently training to take the lead in continuing the Mother Goose promise of excellence for the years to come.
